About Nicholas Roy, DMD
While in dental school, Dr. Roy developed a strong interest in comprehensive care—a treatment philosophy that focuses on evaluating the mouth as a whole, along with its relationship to a patient’s systemic health. Motivated to serve individuals with complex dental concerns, he went on to complete an Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) program in Richmond, Virginia. This advanced training equipped him with the confidence and capability to perform a wide range of procedures, including dental implant placement, full mouth rehabilitation, sedation dentistry, and advanced surgical techniques.
Dr. Roy eventually returned to Maine to serve his local community through work at a public health center. This role allowed him to give back meaningfully while thoughtfully considering where he would establish his long-term practice. A chance encounter led him to join Dr. Wayne Lopez and Dr. Jin Hwang. Dr. Lopez had built an extensive patient base in Gorham in the 1970s-1990s. Dr. Lopez moved his practice to Buxton in 1999, into a house built in 1812. Although this house was excellent for a dentist in the final years of their career, it could not support the efficient and comprehensive care Dr. Roy envisioned for his patients. He acquired the practice in 2013 and began to craft the practice of his dreams.
