Educational Background
Dr. Leverett earned his Bachelor of Science in Medical Biology from the University of New England in Biddeford, graduating Summa Cum Laude. During his undergraduate years, he balanced academic excellence with athletics as a member of the university’s NCAA Division III men’s soccer team. His time at UNE also included an international academic experience in Tangier, Morocco, where he broadened his global perspective and appreciation for diverse cultures.
Before beginning dental school, Dr. Leverett spent six months in Guanacaste, Costa Rica, volunteering as an English teacher. Living with local host families, he immersed himself in the community and developed a deeper understanding of service, communication, and cultural connection—qualities that continue to shape his patient-centered approach today.
Dr. Leverett went on to earn his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of New England College of Dental Medicine. While there, he distinguished himself both academically and through service. He was selected as an AHEC CUP (Area Health Education Center Care for the Underserved Pathway) Scholar, reflecting his dedication to expanding access to care. His commitment to leadership and community outreach earned him multiple honors, including the UNE College of Dental Medicine Exceptional Community Service Award, the Outstanding Student Award, and the American College of Dentists Outstanding Student Leader Award. He was also inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society (Beta Theta Chapter), a recognition reserved for students demonstrating exceptional scholarship and character.
Following dental school, Dr. Leverett pursued advanced clinical training through a General Practice Residency with the Harvard School of Dental Medicine and Cambridge Health Alliance in Massachusetts. This intensive program emphasized the “Oral Physician Model,” an approach that integrates dentistry with overall health and medical considerations. During his residency, he gained extensive experience treating patients with complex medical histories while further refining his skills in restorative dentistry, prosthodontics, oral surgery, endodontics, implant dentistry, and cosmetic dentistry procedures.
